9clouds imparts Taiji in the tradition of ancient Chinese culture.
Taiji is an art, where softness overcomes hardness, calmness triumphs over aggressivity and a subtle approach outdoes a rough one.
At 9clouds we put Daoist principles into practice. True Taiji is a holistic training, that strengthens the health of the body and brings us in harmony with ourselves and our surroundings.
Through deep concentration, relaxation and coordination of body, mind and emotions we develop and refine our internal energy and our inner nature.
We teach, however, with modern methods in an open, multicultural environment. Taiji (Tai Chi) at 9clouds is suitable for everyone, who is curious and searching and wants to understand the deeper aspects of life.
What do we train at 9clouds?
In class we train the 5 loosening exercises, a short, a long and a fast Taiji form (37 respectively 108 postures and quickfist), partner exercises (push hands) and meditation.
With the loosening exercises the foundations of the Taiji principles are transmitted. We learn to relax the muscles and release the joints, thoughts and feelings get quieter. As a consequence we perceive our body and our movements more intensively. In the Taiji form we learn to develop our internal energy, which we sense with the partner in the partner exercises and develop sensitivity.
The meditation is part of the spiritual development. It supports us in directing awareness throughout the body, strengthening the internal energy and applying the principles of Taiji on the emotional and mental levels.
For whom is Taiji appropriate?
Taiji (Tai Chi) can be started and practised at any age. Our school is appropriate for all, who want to learn intensively and develop themselves swiftly.
We offer 4 weekly trainings (1.5 to 2 hours). Those interested in starting are invited to come and watch a lesson.
Which tradition do we follow?
9clouds was founded by Patrick Kelly, who has been training and teaching Taiji and meditation in the Daoist, yoga and Sufi tradition for 45 years.
Our Taiji stands in the tradition of Grandmaster Yang Cheng-Fu, Grandmaster Cheng Man Ching and Master Huang Xingxian.
Patrick Kelly was one of the closest students of Master Huang Xingxian. He teaches Taiji with modern methods, depth and a clear appreciation of the inner principles. Worldwide Patrick Kelly has built up a wide network of Taiji teachers with a large number of students. His main schools are in Zurich, Shanghai and Auckland.
At 9clouds long-standing students pass on the experience and knowledge. Patrick Kelly guides the school in its continued development.
